One mistake I did while buying Laptop

I went to Costco and bought a preconfigured laptop, great it looks fabulous and the features are worth the money. They have only Windows Vista Home Premium, I picked it up. I checked the other laptops they also come with Windows Home Premium. Now when I try to install Virtual PC on it, it says unsupported OS. You know what I decided never again buy a preconfigured laptop. So developers who want Virtual PC dont buy Windows Vista Home Premium please. :(. Any tips on how to install Virtual PC on Windows Vista Home Premium ???

What good is a unsecure standards compliant browser

Recently Apple’s Safari has been in the news, Congrats for passing the ACID3 test and for being the first browser to pass the test. And now the sad news is that in the “CanSecWest PWN” competition, it is safari that caused Apple to fail. Here is my question: What good is a unsecure standards compliant browser. Now that Safari passed the ACID3 test, I hope they will concentrate more on security and make it the most secure browser.

Why I like Google Reader

I had been using Google Reader for more than 1.5 years, I summed up some tips and tricks, some which I really really recommend. I will be telling you these tips shortly:

Well first of all what is Google reader ??? A Web Based RSS Reader, you can subscribe to your favourite feeds and view them using google reader. It has a nice interface for accessing from mobiles too. You can star, tag, share and email your articles. Once you start using it, you would simply love it. I started with Google Reader and I didnt want to change to any other web based readers.

With google reader you can star articles, tag them, share them, send by email, add clippings to your website. Google reader also provides a customized version for mobiles so that you can read your articles on the go.
Google reader provides various shortcuts also, my favourites are:

j/k - next/prev item.
space - next item / page
s - star item
shift + s - share item
v - view original

Google reader suggests additional feeds based on your subscriptions so discover more feeds of your interest. And finally Google gears is used with Google reader, so read your articles in offline mode also.

Final verdict: Give it a try.

YahooMail Frustrations

I was using YahooMail for almost 8 years, and thanks to Yahoo for their wonderful services. But recently Yahoo seems it is looking more towards Ads rather than User Experience. For the past 3 days or so, whenever I access my Yahoomail and goto Inbox, The top 3 emails are not clickable - An ad from Airtel is blocking, I waited for the ad to minimize back, but even after that Iam not able to click on the first 3 email subject links to view them. Thankyou Yahoo for all the wonderful services but please dont make User experience frustrating. Please post comments about your frustrations with Yahoo or any other websites. Should I switch to an alternate mail service (GMail / Hotmail) ???
